CTE CULINARY ARTS
This program is an added curriculum to state requirements, available to students to aid in expanding experience and helping in their career path. It is a hands-on work experience where students learn in a commercial kitchen. The students in culinary arts make breakfast and lunch for Windover High School as well as other programs in Midland County. Our culinary arts program also takes outside orders from the public. Some of the skills culinary arts students’ learn in the program include:
• Preparing & Serving food
• Baking & Cake Decorating
• Meal Catering
• Hot & Cold Food Preparation
• Food Service Management
• Computerized Inventory Control
• Portion & Pricing Control
• Hospitality Skills
• Menu Preparation
• Safety Practices
• Sanitation Techniques
We understand that in this economy, it is hard for students to eat healthy. That’s why we provide information on how your child can receive a healthy free and reduced lunch (if qualified). Our alternative school provides well-rounded diets for students, while meals are prepared by our culinary arts students to create a complete circle within the school.
