INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that incorporates many common-sense practices. It is designed to manage pest problems using the most economical means with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment. An effective IPM program takes advantage of all pest management options possible including the judicious use of pesticides.

During the school year, Windover High School will conduct monthly inspections at our building in cooperation with Terminix Pest Control. IPM procedures will determine when to control pests and whether to use mechanical, chemical, or biological means. Records will be kept on site documenting pest sightings and the applications of any necessary pesticides. The decision to use a pesticide will be based on a review of all other available options and a determination that these options are not acceptable or are not feasible. Any pesticide application will be conducted by licensed technicians following all federal and state safety guidelines.
