About Windover High School

Windover is an alternative.

At Windover High School we recognize, accept, and respect individual differences. Our students and staff work together toward the common goal of an education that leads to a high school diploma.

We know a diploma opens the door to better jobs, the possibility of continuing education, and a brighter future. We also know some students have outside issues and circumstances that may interfere with school attendance and performance. Our staff of compassionate professionals offers each student the help and guidance he or she needs to address those issues and succeed in earning a high school diploma.

Windover is different from traditional high school environments.

We offer:

  • Enrollment for students ages 15 to 20
  • Academic education and “Enterprise” learning opportunities daily
  • Small classes, so each student gets more individual help
  • Self-paced learning using a variety of teaching methods

Students succeed at Windover because we offer . . .

  • Flexible programs
  • Later start time
  • Independent, self-paced education
  • A family atmosphere where staff and students are on a first name basis
  • Equal treatment of all students
  • A comfortable, motivational learning environment
  • Caring staff members who are attentive and give positive reinforcement
  • “Community Time” – a weekly session that gives students a voice
  • An atmosphere of mutual respect and patience
  • Off-site day care

Small class sizes, a low student-to-teacher ratio, and opportunities for one-on-one instruction give students a real chance to succeed in the classroom. We also have computers in every classroom to help students research subjects and prepare assignments. And all of Windover’s teachers and staff use hands-on activities, small-group sessions, and integrated study to help students learn and retain concepts and skills.
